Feb 25th | MLB Prospect Pricing Ladder | Pavin, Houck, & Lutz… Spring Training

The past 3 weeks we saw a slight hiccup in volume because of the release of flagship product – 2018 Topps Baseball. Because of that we gave the data an extra week…which helped with averages and legitimate volume. Over the last few days volume has come on strong mainly because BASEBALL IS BACK! Spring Training cures all of the collector doldrums. Let’s dive into this weeks MLB Prospect report!

But…before we dive in to this week’s report, we want to thank our sponsor for the MLB PRICING LADDERBig Hurt 35. If you haven’t had a chance to check out Bryan and his BH35 breaks, get over to his website or breaker page!

Quick Thoughts:

  • 34 Prospects moved up in the rankings in this weeks report.
  • Pavin Smith  I wondered when we’d start to see him move up the charts… he climbed up to #7 this week. He is one of my faves.
  • 22 Prospects OVER $10 avg This still holds true…and it’s incredible.
  • Volume is key We saw a HUGE uptick in volume the last week…and sold items actually increased 6% week over week. Great sign.

Criteria

We run reports on all prospects’ Bowman Draft BASE AUTO sales for a given period. We exclude any variation, auto, insert, graded, or memorabilia prices to make sure you are getting a good representation of the actual base auto pricing. We use Base Auto prices as a baseline because they are considered by many to be the de facto standard for “base” prospect cards for MLB players. We also do our best to remove the countless MISLABELED listings for players, but there is always a chance a random auction can slightly skew the #’s. We’ll keep a close eye.

We will run a separate MLB RC price tracker after Topps Series 1 is released.
